Where Faith Grows, Love Leads, and Purpose Unfolds

It Can Only Be Defeated in the Spirit

On July 19, 2024, while I was walking on the treadmill, God spoke to me. To paraphrase, He said, “What’s coming, you can only defeat spiritually (in the supernatural realm). You cannot defeat the enemy with natural weapons.”

Then, the movie Spectral flashed into my mind.

To summarize, the movie was about an invisible enemy that was attacking soldiers, but they could not see it. They tried to shoot at it, but they had no idea where to shoot because the enemy was invisible. Eventually, a man discovered that these creatures existed outside of the normal human visual spectrum, which is why special imaging goggles were required to see them. After discovering this, they had to strategize and figure out how to defeat the creatures.

I believe the word God gave me on July 19, 2024, was for a time such as now.

It’s here now, and it’s going to get worse.

The enemy is attacking our thoughts and our minds. Suicide and murder are going to rise. What is here cannot be defeated naturally. You need to strengthen yourself with the Word of God.

How do you do that, you might ask?

By not only reading the Bible but by meditating on the Word of God.

Joshua 1:8 NIV states:

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

This scripture is the blueprint for how we overcome day to day spiritual attacks.

Not only do you meditate on the Word, but you keep it always on your lips. When the enemy attacks, you open your mouth and rebuke him with the Word of God.

Hebrews 4:12 NIV states:

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” For it is with the Word of God that we defeat the enemy.

My Personal Experience

I love spending time with God, and I try to do so every morning. However, when I gave birth to my son, my mornings were no longer the same as they used to be. I became busy and barely had time to open my Bible. Sooner or later, the enemy started to sneak into my mind.

Where I once had great faith, I began to experience generalized fear, which the world calls anxiety. I started becoming anxious about everything, including the safety of my son. I would have random thoughts about my son falling or accidentally getting hurt while I was sleeping.

I remember my friend even telling me that what I was experiencing was “normal” and a “protective mechanism.” I never understood how living with new-mom anxiety was considered normal or a protective mechanism, but I settled and began calling what I was experiencing normal.

As time went on, my anxiety became worse. I couldn't even sleep, and when you're sleep-deprived, it's like you're a walking zombie. It was during that time that I began to experience postpartum depression. Then, one Sunday at church, the pastor was speaking about how, when our minds aren't right, the enemy is at work and we need to rebuke him.

After that sermon, it was like a light bulb went off in my mind.

I remembered who I am.

I am a child of the Most High God, who has given me power and authority to bind and rebuke things on earth and in heaven.

I began to speak over my mind and my anxiety. I quoted scriptures such as

Philippians 4:6 NIV:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

From that moment, I decided to make time for God because I knew only, He could take the anxiety and depression away and He did.

Since mornings were difficult, I adjusted. Sometimes I spent time praying and reading the Word of God during my son's nap times or before bedtime. I even prayed and worshipped God while driving in my car because God is everywhere, not just in my home.

Strengthen Yourself Spiritually

Remember to meditate on the Word of God day and night and keep it on your lips. So when the enemy comes, you can defeat him spiritually with God's Word.

What is here cannot be defeated with natural weapons. Some battles can only be won in the spirit.

Strengthen your mind. Strengthen your faith. Meditate on God's Word. Keep His Word on your lips.

Because when the enemy comes, you will be ready to fight not with natural weapons, but with the power and authority God has already given you.

Prayer of Salvation

Salvation is important for a time such as now. If you aren't saved and would like to become saved, pray this prayer out loud:

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ. You said in Your Word that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Father, I am calling on Jesus right now. I believe He died on the cross for my sins, that He was raised from the dead on the third day, and He's alive right now. Lord Jesus, I am asking You now, come into my heart. Live Your life in me and through me. I repent of my sins and surrender myself totally and completely to You. Heavenly Father, by faith I now confess Jesus Christ as my new Lord and from this day forward, I dedicate my life to serving Him.
